Abstract
In football, the trauma can be low to high intensity and depends on factors such as the mechanism, the kinematics of the injury, the type of surface and the body composition of the athlete. For a player to return to physical activity it is important that they have a multidisciplinary team (Traumatologist, Sports Scientist, Physiotherapist, Nutritionist, Psychologist, Physical Trainer), which can ensure their full recovery.
An unusual clinical case described in the medical literature is presented. High- performance soccer player, who during a match presented an external patellar dislocation associated with a chondral avulsión fracture of the lateral femoral condyle. He was diagnosed through an adequate medical history and imaging tests (magnetic resonance imaging). Subsequently, he was treated by osteosynthesis and patellar ligament plasty with a cadaveric graft. The clinical and radiological evolution at ten months was satisfactory, allowing him to return to high sports performance without complications.
