Avascular necrosis of the femoral heads is an important complication in patients with sickle cell anemia, which must be treated according to its evolution period, for which there are clinical and surgical treatments including decompression of the core in early stages and hip arthroplasty in advanced stages of the disease. The post-surgical complications that may be caused by the underlying disease in these patients should be taken into account.
