Abstract

The problems related to the patella, constitute from 20 to 40% of consultations of knee pathology, it is important to arrive at precise diagnoses based on the pathophysiology of the different forms of presentation of the lesions, to understand the etiology of the appropriate and timely treatment.

The following work is presented to publicize the management protocol and the different surgical techniques that are being carried out at the Hospital Carlos Andrade Marín in the city of Quito.

All medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction surgical procedures have a similar rate of effectiveness according to the experience of each surgeon, with tunnels, anchors, interference screws.

The procedures of distalization and medialization should be made when the patella is very high.

We present the case of a 30-year-old patient with chronic lateral dislocation of right- sided patella, high patella and rupture of medial patellofemoral ligament.
