Abstract




Tuberculosis is a disease that has become a serious public health pathology, both national and international, in our country thanks to the strategies of prevention and personalized treatment was managed to reduce the incidence to 30.2 per 1000.00 in habitants in the year of 2012 and its value is expected to decrease today. Tuberculosis Osteoarticular is found as the third form of presentation. The difficulty of this diagnosis, due to the nonspecific clinical manifestations, causes that it is belatedly identified. Case Report: Patient, male, 51 years of age, was referred to the consultation for pain in the left knee of 2 years of evolution, with progressive characteristics, accompanied by edema. Arthrocentesis was performed and an infectious result was found. Subsequently, arthroscopy and cytological investigation are performed. He came to the clinic performing MIR imaging reporting of increased synovial and bone erosion. The patient entered for arthrotomy plus fistulectomy, plus a broad synovectomy, sample collection for culture and histopathology. The coloration Zielh Neelsen shows the positive presence of acid resistant bacillus, confirming the diagnosis and the beginning of treatment.


Discussion: Tuberculosis continues to be a public health problem at locally and internationally as well as international level. The unusual forms of presentation such as tuberculosis at the articular level are rare but the presentation of cases like this helps to guide an appropriate management protocol. Tuberculosis lose taken account in the differential diagnosis to avoid unnecessary examinations and treatment time to the patient.
